While some of us work...some of us play

The view from my back deck.
Before you say, "Oh look at all that lush green foliage!"
Look again.
Out of control weeds.
My least favorite part of Spring.
It has been on our list to tackle for weeks.
In fact this particular weekend it was the plan until the rains arrived.
I have said before that the reason we installed our tall fence around our yard
was to be kind to our neighbors so they wouldn't have to look upon our jungle.

My superman husband, who refers to himself as "The Help,"
spent his Friday painting our kitchen.
This after doing the grocery shopping, 5 loads of laundry
and attending some work meetings.
Yes, I am spoiled.

After our contribution to the Saturday chores, Court and I decided to
brave the torrential rains and drive over to the Fleattitude Flea Market.
I have always enjoyed visiting antique stores and vintage vendors.
I love the feeling of nostalgia that sweeps over me when I see certain items.

This particular market was set up in the old Pleasant Grove Rec Center.
My friend, Mindy Gledhill is a huge vintage thrift-market specialist.
She had recommended this one as she knew some favorite vendors participating.
As a singer she is always on the lookout for stage props and clothing for her concerts.

There were treasures of every kind.

Look at this very old tricycle.

While we braved the rains and the cold here,
the newlyweds headed off on a fun get-away to beautiful Oregon.
They were celebrating Scott's finishing his semester and MCAT test.

They went to the beautiful Portland Temple.

The last time Coryn was there
this was her reaction.

She did, however, find an old friend at Cannon Beach.

Of Spring Break, Birthdays, Short Visits and Blossoms...

19 years ago. Spring Break trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Back in the day when our girls were all in school,
Spring Break was the much anticipated week to go on a vacation.
We didn't always go on a trip.
Sometimes we would do what is termed a 'staycation'
where we stayed home but did fun activities or even day trips.
Those were wonderful times.
With only one left in school things have changed.
Cammy is easy going and just prefers spending quiet days with me.
And so we spent a very pleasant and peaceful week together.

We kicked off the week by enjoying LDS General Conference
and celebrating Coryn's April 6th birthday.

I wanted to spotlight this darling cake-topper.
My friend Olivia made this and she has the most darling
shop on Etsy where she sells her creations.
Even celebrities have purchased her party wares.
You can visit her shop HERE.

At the crack of dawn on Saturday morning
a red tornado, also known as Caitlyn, blew into town
with a couple of girlfriends from her YSA ward.
After sleeping at our home for a few hours the girls headed to
Salt Lake City for a wedding
and Cait spent the rest of the day with us.
We headed to downtown Provo for a stroll and dropped in at
the Bijou Bazaar.

We also checked up on the progress of the new
Provo City Center Temple.

As Cait's birthday had been three days before
we held our celebration for her that day.
In honor of our singer/songwriter I used this tablecloth
which was last eaten on by Imagine Dragons when I
managed the greenroom at Rooftop Concerts.
Caitlyn was delighted by that little tidbit.

The young man Cait has been dating happened to be in SLC
 visiting extended family,
so he joined us for the celebration.

Fun to have the whole family at the table again.

And then, as swiftly as she flew in she flew out.
Back to LaLa Land.

And just as the spring brings its blossoms,
I realize my girls are blossoming into their own lives.
And all is as it should be.

Happy Birthday Cali Cait!

Happy California Birthday to our fabulous Caitlyn!

One of my favorite photos of Cait (taken by her sister, Coryn)
Hard to believe she is 23!
We miss her, but are happy she is happy.
She loves that sunshine.

And here is where she feels at home.
Love you, Caity-did!

"When it's Springtime in the Rockies.."

I took this photo today outside the main entrance
of the beautiful Provo Temple.
A huge dark rain cloud had just come overhead.
The contrast was stunning.
Springtime in Utah is always a revelation.
