A Wild Rumpus in Heaven

"A little boy… sent me a charming card with a little drawing. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."

Hi Treble Clef,

Your brother Con and I went to high school together and were the best of friends.

I am headed to Australia for work and plan to be in the Brisbane area.

I had a flood of wonderful memories of Con. I decided to Google Con's name and found your blog (actually my 9 yr old son found it) I am not that smart. I saw the picture and blog you did last year about Con.

I actually named my second son's middle name Con. I tell my kids stories about Con often. We find ourselves laughing until we cry. He was the funniest and most talented young man ever. I miss him and think of him often.

I hope that you and your family are well. I would to get updates on everyone.

My best,

Bret Cloward

I remember hearing your name many times through my brother and how much he valued your friendship. Thank you for your kind words! Please contact me again via my blog and leave me your e-mail so I can send you an update if that's okay with you. *I still haven't caved in to Facebook.:) (Con's favorite book as a child was "Where the Wild Things Are."
