Happy Mother's Day to Me!

Nationally renowned photographer Justin Hackworth did a photo shoot for us last week.
I have never liked being in front of the camera, but I will admit it was the most fun I've ever had at a photo shoot.

He made us laugh, a lot.
Justin had suggested a Mother/Daughter shoot and I loved the idea.

Justin's trademark is his honesty and his ability to capture the authentic personality of those he photographs.

To see more of Justin's photography and especially his gorgeous wedding coverage go to Justin Hackworth.com

Cait is a natural in front of the lens.
I love this photo of Coryn.
Look at Cammy's cute freckles.
I didn't make Court wear a dress:)

It was a great season opener

Enjoy these photos by my friend,
the amazing pro Justin Hackworth.

Yes. I get to go beyond this point.

Here's Justin taking his own photo with fellow founders
Mindy Gledhill and Courtney Kendrick.

Ryan Innes really warmed the crowd up.

 And everyone adored the terrific
Peter Breinholt!

The trademark Rooftop Lanterns
blow in the breeze.
Another wonderful concert wraps.

Joy Cometh in the Morning

Saturday morning our family was humbled
to be able to attend the groundbreaking for
the Provo City Center Temple.

Our family has many fond connections
to the Provo Tabernacle. For ten years
we lived just two blocks east. I have played
the piano and the magnificent organ there,
sung a few solos, and helped with a musical.
Bill and I have sung in choirs, attended
graduations, funerals and concerts in
that magnificent building. Caitlyn and Cammy
sang in several choir concerts and Cait even
gave a talk over the pulpit at a stake
conference when she was eight years old.

Mayor John Curtis
As were so many others, we were devastated
when the Tabernacle went up in flames in
December of 2010.
And now rising from the ashes a
glorious House of the Lord
will be built.

Mayor John Curtis, photo

"Sometimes we are so close to history we don't realize we are making it."
 Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

No other structure in Provo has had such valued and varied use.

"I think it is significant that this temple will be a blessing not just to the temple-going Latter-day Saints in this community; this will be a great blessing to the entire community of Provo and the surrounding communities. This truly is a sacred place and it is filled with great history."
Elder William R. Walker

"You know it is historic as we celebrate the beginnings of another new temple and historic as we recognize the blessing of the rebirth of the iconic Provo Tabernacle, literally rising from the ashes of a horrible fire to become a temple of the Lord."
Elder Cecil O. Samuelson, BYU President

A Wild Rumpus in Heaven

"A little boy… sent me a charming card with a little drawing. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."
from Maurice Sendak’s 2011 interview with Terry Gross. [Fresh Air via @LettersOfNote]

Full Moon Over the Rooftop

Me and 3 of the C's with singer-songwriter Peter Breinholt.

The 3rd Season of our
Rooftop Concert Series
Kicked off with great weather
and a full moon in the clear sky.

I enjoyed chatting with our wonderful
headliner Peter Breinholt.
Not only is he a great songwriter and
performer, but I was so impressed with
his kind demeanor and humility.
Also fun to connect with some of his
band members like David Tolk and
Craig Miner, talented artists in their
own careers.

The Greenroom was a hit thanks to
our wonderful sponsors
The Heirloom Group who run various
restaurants such as Communal
and Pizzaria 712.

Always a treat to hang around my friend,
the lovely and talented Mindy Gledhill.

Cammy is a big help in the Greenroom
and always finds ways to amuse herself.

More photos to come.

Back on the Rooftop

Season 3 kicks of this Friday!
Two outstanding artists will fill the evening air
with their beautiful vocals.

Opening will be the soulful Ryan Innes.
If you've never heard Ryan
you are in for quite a ride!

"Not only is his skill as a vocalist impeccable,
but his ability to express emotion is the difference
he brings to the table..."(Ashlie Lohner)

"He's got a perfect voice, and he implements
it with such intelligence into his seamlessly
written songs." (Alex Easton, Altsounds.com)

Headlining the show is the wonderful Peter Breinholt.
Peter has delighted audiences for a long time and has
a loyal fan base.

Peter has sold out every major concert hall in Utah
for more than a decade, including Kingsbury Hall,
Tuachan, Sundance, and Thanksgiving Point.

His credits include many songwriting awards, 6 albums,
(of which his first became one of the best selling,
independently released CD's ever in the state of Utah),
performances with several symphony orchestras.

Peter has performed across the United States and
his music has spread around the world.
He weaves stories with his lyrics and magic with
his folksy, warm vocals.
