My Favorite Blooms

I love lilacs.
Ever since my childhood.
Their fragrance.
Their color.
Sadly though,
They arrive too soon
and leave too quickly.

Totoro, our friend

Friday night we had our much anticipated
 TOTORO party.

This was the first Miyazaki movie our family
was introduced to when the girls were little.

 Everyone loved the "soot sprites"
that Jenni made.
This is the brilliant animator from Japan
Hayao Miyazaki.
We are huge fans of his work
and have enjoyed several of his films
produced by his Studio Ghibli.

 Amber made delicious fruit parfaits
with tiny Totoro umbrellas.

The children and even the grown-ups
had fun decorating character cookies.

 Coral's masterpieces.

Coral and Jewell made sure the children
had plenty of games to play.
And our hostess Court
created a
"Pin Mei on Totoro" game.

On Saturday the fun continued
as we went to the movie theatre
to see the latest Studio Ghibli creation
The Secret World of Arriety
based on the children's book
The Borrowers.
Loved it!

Portrait of my Girls

Coryn, Cammy, "Lady Hue" and I

This past weekend we attended the
Bijou Market.
Local artists and crafters.
Our first order of business was
to engage my friend,
Caitlin Connelly to draw
a portrait of the 4 C's.
She is so talented and we loved
how it turned out.

She will do custom portraits
for you too.

The Report

Wearing beautiful leis straight from Hawaii.
A surprise brought by sweet friend Mounu.

Coryn gave an excellent talk today.
We are so proud of her hard work as a missionary
in France and Belgium.
We admire her example of love for our Savior and her
willingness to give 18 months of her life to share
His Gospel of Love with those who would listen.
It has blessed her life.
And will continue to bless her life.
She is all the richer for this experience.

Birthdays, Shopping and Eating on a Rooftop

My husband and I looking eager to partake at The Cheesecake Factory.

Saturday we celebrated both Coryn and Caitlyn's birthdays
by visiting the new gorgeous City Creek Center
in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

And believe me it is one fabulous mall.
We splurged big time and ate lunch at
The Cheesecake Factory.
The menu alone is a small phone book.
The food is divine.
And Caitlyn let us know that
"The waiters are hot!"

Deseret News

There is a store for everyone.
Coryn and Caitlyn were excited about
Court and Cammy headed to
Disney Store and Deseret Book.
Bill was a sport and tagged along with me to
Papyrus.Tiffany's was not in the budget:)

It was a pleasant day and well worth the trip.

Our evening highlight was a visit to the home
of our friends Tom and Courtney Morrill.
They had lovingly planned a soiree
to celebrate Coryn's return from Paris
as well as her 24th birthday.

Coryn met Courtney in a university film class
and they became fast friends.
Courtney is a graduate of BYU's film program
and a talented screenwriter.
One of her projects, a web series called
"Dead Grandma" is making the film festival rounds.
Tom is also a film graduate and works as a producer.
One of his current projects is the excellent series
"Turning Point" which can be seen on BYUTV.

Our dinner was up on the rooftop of their apartment.
A spectacular view of the Salt Lake Valley!
We felt like we were on a movie location.

Tom and Courtney had created lovely ambiance.
Cafe lights, tissue flowers, and French music.
And Tom is a talent at the b-b-que grill.
Yummy food and fun conversation.

So nice for Coryn to connect with her dear friends again.
She had missed their wedding last May.
The Morrills jokingly offered to "recreate" the day,
dress and all:)

If you know our daughters, this photo says a lot...

Look at that view!!
And the guy in the corner:)

Such a wonderful day.
Thanks, Tom and Courtney,
for capping it off so beautifully.

Black Sheep Cafe

Court treated Coryn and I to lunch at
The Black Sheep Cafe.
It was scrumptious!
I highly recommend a visit if you live near Provo.
It is on the 100 Block on University Avenue.

Best Navajo Tacos.
A variety of delicious Navajo traditional food.
The setting is very neat also.
We were well served.
We'll be back:)
