All Good Gifts Around Us...

We can only be said to be alive
in those moments when our hearts
are conscious of our treasures.

Cousins Connect

CoriLyn and Caitlyn pose for an "official" shot
at UVU's Best Dance Crew.

This past week Caitlyn attended a really fun event at UVU.
It was the most well-attended event of the Homecoming Week.
UVU's Best Dance Crew Final Face-off.
Caitlyn said there was some amazing talent.
The event was organized and MC'd by my niece Cori Fox.
She is the UVUSA Fine Arts Chair.
Way to go, Cori!

Love to get those missionary e-mails

Coryn and Cait a few moments after the mission call was opened.

Today is Coryn's weekly
Preparation Day in the mission field.
We did not get our regular e-mail from her.
That has never happened before.
I'm guessing she just didn't get to a computer
before the day's activities were through.

It is surprising how much we look forward
to those letters....

Sunday our family spoke and sang at church in the
Young Single Adult ward where my husband serves.
On our way out of the campus building where we met
Cammy starting laughing loudly and said:
"Look at that!"
Ha! Ha!
Good old Massasoit is once again the object of
college students' creativity.
(I remember over 30 years ago
someone putting a toga on him.)

Haunting Harps

Today our family attended an absolutely awesome recital!
Imagine 40 harps on the same stage all playing together.
My talented friend Ashley, along with other harp teachers
and their respective students present this
traditional recital each year.

Harps covered in cobwebs.
Harpists disguised as goblins, devils, pirates and the like.
And how could it be any more festive with pieces titled:
Zombie, The Adams Family, Bella's Lullabye,
Cruella De Ville, Skeleton Song, and Harry Potter Theme?
And a special treat:
We May Not Be Vampires, But We're Still Men
sung by Ashley's husband Mat. and his brothers.
(Also fun to watch Marilyn, one of my new vocal students
playing her harp on the front row.)

I Salute You

My dad was a veteran.
He was also a writer.
This is one of his books about the
Navajo Code Talkers of World War II.
It is on several required reading lists
in high schools.
If you don't know their story,
you should.
Go here to read review.

Live it...

Simon Dewey

"I think part of the notion of having a testimony
is that you are expressing it all the time,
not just at the pulpit.
It comes out in your interactions,
your conversations,
your choices,
and your work."

~Chris Clark
